Non-Runner in some Running Shoes....

So in March, I decided I needed to start doing something healthy for myself. I bought some running shoes and Lewis and I set out on a journey in preparation for the Toad Suck 5K in Conway on May 1. We did so good! Every other day we wandered out downtown towards the Clinton Library for a run. About 2 weeks before the race, we stopped. I don't remember why. Maybe the craziness of school wrapping up for the semester...

But I did run the race with my preggo friend Allyson and her sisters. In the rain. My time was about 35 minutes. A little disappointing because I really wanted to come in under 30. But it was exhaustively humid.

And after that, I was in and out of town for 5 weeks! I had a rotation for school and then was on vacation and Lewis was with my my the whole time. I think she had a blast with a big back yard to run around in and fun toys to play around with at Nanny's house, she didn't miss me at all! But I missed my running buddy. By the time we got back to Little Rock and settled, the temperatures were pushing 100 degrees. It was 85 when I woke up at 8:00 one morning. So the running was still on the back burner. Oh to have gym here at Rock Street!

But yesterday, we laced up the shoes and headed out for the first run in 2 months. And boy did it feel good! There is a lot of construction around the library so we re-routed to the junction bridge and ran to NLR instead. This morning we went on a 45 minute walk. Well... She walked and dragged me behind her. So much easier to keep up when I run :o) Hopefully the temperatures stay cool in the morning because we had a great time!
